Simon graduated from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in 1999 and completed his higher specialist ophthalmology training in Wessex in 2010. Following this he completed a prestigious Fellowship in Oculoplastics at the Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia. Simon has been a full time consultant at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth since 2012. In this role he performs both intraocular and oculoplastic surgery and often collaborates with dermatologists as well as maxilofacial and ENT surgeons in the management and reconstruction of patients with head and neck cancers that involve the eyelids.
Simon is regularly involved in teaching ophthalmic trainees, junior doctors and medical staff and has organised courses to develop teaching skills. He is also a full member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society (BOPSS), and has been on numerous trips to an eye hospital in Burma, where he has performed both oculoplastic and cataract surgery as part of an overseas charity programme.
