It’s so important to look after yourself post-surgery. This is what gives you a great surgical outcome. So I always say to my patients, please get your diet sorted out.
Get lots more vitamin C, collagen, and protein. That helps with wound healing. Not only that, it’s so important to rest. Give your body the rest it needs.
Take two weeks off of nothing strenuous. It’s also very important, particularly when you’re having blepharoplasty surgery, to maintain an upright position, but not too upright that you don’t rest.
So I often suggest having a neck pillow that you can buy from airports to sleep for two weeks. In a consultation, I’d want to know if you bruise easily or not.
If you do, we’ll prescribe you a medication called tranexamic acid to help minimize the risk of bruising after surgery.
I’d also recommend ice packs after surgery, at least 15 minutes at a time, three or four times a day, if not longer, depending on how you heal and bruise.
