Ocular hypertension is not the same as glaucoma. Ocular hypertension is a risk factor for glaucoma. What ocular hypertension means is that you have raised intraocular pressure. This means the pressure in your eye is higher than the normal average. In glaucoma sufferers, people with ocular hypertension go on to then have damage to their optic nerve and lose vision. Glaucoma is a disease and ocular Hypertension is a risk factor.
