Blepharoplasty surgery is one of the safest operations that we do, but no operation is completely safe. Biggest risk is either over or underdoing the surgery, and we don’t want to overdo it because then you might need a skin graft if your eye is getting very dry, and we don’t want to underdo it because then you wonder why you’ve spent all that money on the surgery. Other risks obviously include infection, bleeding, eyes getting dry afterwards, and occasionally, your eyelashes are numb. So this is more for the ladies putting mascara on. They might find that their eyelashes are numb for several months afterwards.
As we are operating around your eye, there is a very small risk to your vision, but this is exceedingly rare.
