A monofocal lens or a monofocal implant is an implant which just has one fixed power. So if we choose, for example, to set you so you can see in the distance, then whilst you will have potentially very good distance vision without glasses, you will lack nearer vision. This could be a frustration if, for example, you want to drive without glasses. Whilst your distance vision is good, you won’t be able to see perhaps the dashboard of the car.
