We have some great treatments now for wet age-related macular degeneration, the majority of which are anti-growth factor injections placed within the eye itself. Some patients are lucky and find after around a two-year course of treatment they are able to stop injections and continue with perhaps local monitoring at their opticians. Many others unfortunately require long-term, sometimes lifelong injections to keep the leaking process under control.
