There are many types of glaucoma but the two main types are open angle and closed angle glaucoma. The way we think glaucoma affects patients is by pressure rises in the eye. The eye is a bit like a sink with a tap and a plug hole. In open angle glaucoma we can see the plug holes are open but there must be a blockage further down. Whereas in closed angle glaucoma we cannot see the plug hole. Either because there’s a stopper there or there’s debris in the way.
