When can I go home after blepharoplasty?
Duration 0:24
Simon Rogers, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Sapphire Eye Care, explains that when you can go home after your blepharoplasty depends on what kind of anaesthetic you’ve had. Different eyelid surgeries might involve local or general anaesthetic, but your consultant will discuss your needs and preferences at your appointment.

If you’ve had a general anaesthetic, you need to make sure that you’ve had something to eat and drink and that you are feeling well. If it’s under local anaesthetic, we normally apply an ice pack to your eyelids for the first 20 minutes after your operation, and then once you’ve had a drink and are happy, then we would allow you to go home.
