Sadly, dry age-related macular degeneration can be very serious in the more advanced stages. Fortunately in many people, dry age-related macular degeneration stays at a relatively early stage, at least for several years. Traditionally there were no treatments available. Increasingly now we do have options and it’s always worth getting an opinion from an eye surgeon if you have a diagnosis of age-related macular degeneration made by your optician.
