Refractive Lens Exchange
Can you have Refractive Lens Exchange if you have cataracts?
Duration 0:50
Transcript
Traditional cataract surgery would aim to remove the need for distance glasses. Great if you’ve got cataract and you can’t see, but often people want a bit more in terms of less in the way of spectacle use. Refractive cataract surgery is often the phrase used in patients having surgery to not only remove their cataract but also reduce their dependence on spectacles. The procedure is very similar, with greater care taken over measurements and introduction of the use of extended depth of focus implants or multifocal implants, hoping to further reduce the need for spectacles.
