The main driver for refractive lens exchange is usually inability to tolerate contact lenses, frustration with wearing spectacles and also being in the age group or having other medical conditions which means you aren’t a particularly good candidate for laser refractive surgery to the cornea. This is usually the older age group, often people who are hypometropic or long-sighted rather than myopic or short-sighted.
